Hailey & Brett
Bret and Hailey met through mutual friends in the fall of 2012.
“We became official the night Johnny Football won the Heisman,” said Bret.
A senior in the Corps of Cadets, Bret knew he was ready to surprise his girlfriend of two years with the perfect ring and a traditional Corps saber arch proposal. “I chose David Gardner’s because of their willingness to help. They put me at ease and worked with me to find the perfect diamond and ring for Hailey,” said Bret.
Now the question was how to surprise her. A recent Aggie grad, Hailey taught at a junior high school in Navasota so anything on campus would trigger suspicions. “She always told me she didn’t think I could surprise her, so that was my goal.” After weeks of planning that included the principle of her school and the friend who introduced them, Hailey was on campus for what she thought was a conference.
With a little guidance from her friend, she happened upon her own saber arch without realizing it. “The surprise I saw on her face when she realized the arch was for her was a great feeling!” said Bret. He proposed under the Century Tree with both sets of parents and Hailey’s grandmother there to see the special moment.
