THE BESPOKE ENGAGEMENT RING PROCESS

Meet Della Dublin, one of our incredibly talented artists at David Gardner’s. Her journey with us is as unique as the stunning pieces she creates.

It all started when Texas A&M football star and kicker, Seth Small, was in the midst of designing his engagement ring with our team. During the process, he couldn’t stop raving about his sister, Della, and her exceptional artistic talents. Intrigued, we invited Della for an interview, and it was clear from the start that she was a perfect fit for our creative family.

Della has since become an integral part of our team, infusing her artistic flair into countless designs, from captivating case displays to bespoke pieces for our cherished customers. Her creativity and passion have left an indelible mark on our store, much like the Aggie spirit that inspires us every day.

Keep reading for a Q&A on Della’s bespoke engagement ring process, where she shares insights into her creative journey and the magic behind custom designs.

How did you begin the process of looking for an engagement ring?

We visited the David Gardner’s store together and had the pleasure of meeting with Sophie. She meticulously noted down all the details of my preferences. Later, Jackson made a special trip back without me to carefully select the perfect diamond and review the design options.

What were the most important factors for you when choosing the ring?

The most important factor for me was having a personalized ring that truly reflected us as a couple. I knew my dream ring could only come from David Gardner’s because it would be crafted by friends who understand our unique story. Their expertise ensured we selected an absolutely stunning diamond, and I was confident in their unparalleled knowledge and dedication to creating something truly extraordinary.

Were you a part of the design process? What inspired your design desires?

My dear friend Rachel, who is also an Artist at DG’s, worked closely with David & the design team to perfectly blend classic simplicity with organic details, knowing exactly what I love. It appears as a timeless solitaire from the top, but the gallery view reveals flower petal and leaf motifs, aquamarines for Jackson’s birthstone, and three small diamonds on each side representing the Holy Trinity.

How did you decide on the type of metal and shape of the diamond you wanted for the ring?

I chose yellow gold for its warm, radiant glow, and to perfectly match both of our cherished Aggie rings. Opting for 18K gold gave the ring an even richer color. Pear-shaped diamonds have always been my favorite since I began designing; they possess an elegance and uniqueness that I adore, with their beautifully elongated shape adding a touch of sophistication and charm. I have always been drawn to the ‘classic’ look and knew I would love to have a solitaire engagement ring.

How important was it for you to have a unique or custom design?

Honestly, it was incredibly important! Knowing the ring was made specifically with me in mind makes it 100 times more special.

What was your initial reaction to the design and style of the ring?

Even though I opted for something simple, I was amazed at how the design team managed to incorporate all the details that were important to me. It exceeded my expectations in every way.

How did you and Jackson meet?

We met during our freshman year at Texas A&M University in an organization called ASSIST (Aggies Selflessly Serving in Shaping Tomorrow). We were friends for about a year before we started dating, and once we began dating, we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

How did Jackson propose?

We both love to travel, so I thought he might propose in Costa Rica during our family beach trip on New Year’s. But in December, before the trip, we went to Dallas for what I thought were Christmas card photos with his family. During one of the photos, he surprised me by getting down on one knee and proposing!

What is the most memorable part of the engagement ring shopping or designing experience?

The most memorable part is the fun story I get to share every time I show someone my ring! The design team had to hide the ring from me and keep everything a secret while I was at work. Even though I had an idea it was being made, I had no idea what it would look like, which made the reveal even more special.
